New Podcast: Need A 4th?!

Hosted by Michael Bamberger, Geoff Ogilvy and Alan Shipnuck

The Fire Pit Collective launched in April 2021, and we continue to evolve. This seems like a good time to bring up-to-date our favorite people: you, the golf fans, who read, watch and listen to our ever-increasing flow of content.

Our podcast network is growing, again. Next week we will drop the first episode of a new pod, “Need A Fourth,” in which Geoff Ogilvy, Michael Bamberger and Alan Shipnuck take turns surprising each other with unexpected and eclectic guests. (“Smartless” fans may recognize the format.) The conversations are spontaneous and freewheeling and we think you’re gonna love it. Here’s a teaser:

Alan and Michael, along with Ryan French, will continue to record “Fire Drill” podcasts every Sunday, reflecting on the news of the week and their adventures in the game. (Over time, expect a mix of co-hosts and guests.) And Matt Ginella will be back soon with more “Fire Pit” narrative podcasts, in which he brings together many voices to tell one immersive story.

From the beginning, we have always wanted to be more than just a website. Led by director of production Alex Upegui and lead editor Marco Escalante, our staff has spent much of 2022 shooting, writing and editing two episodic, bingeworthy docuseries that will debut soon. “The Grind” follows a dozen dreamers at the lower levels of professional golf who are fighting to break through to the big leagues. When each episode is released it will be paired with a written component and an episode of French’s ongoing podcast “The Grind.” (Jordan Perez will be an occasional co-host.) Here’s a sneak peek:

Our other docuseries, “Migrations,” brings to life the golf experience of Black Americans, with each episode focusing on the history, politics and unique culture of a particular city; season one will highlight Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Detroit, Chicago and Oakland. These will also be accompanied by written stories and new episodes of “Grassroots,” the podcast hosted by Laz Versalles and John Nichols (@LaJethroJenkins to his army of Twitter followers.) One last teaser:
